Summit Sessions

During each summit, the top 10 leadership principles that children’s leaders must know will be discussed and explored. Read more about these important principles below.

The Power of 10 Leadership Principles

  1. Recruiting and Caring for Volunteers

Managing volunteers can be one of the most challenging aspects of being a children's pastor.  This will be a featured topic for the Interact Session.

  2. Self-Leadership

Become a leader that people want to follow! Find out what disciplines a successful leader has. Self-Leadership will be a topic in The Buzz session. Learn from other successful leaders as they share what self-leadership looks like.

  3. Mentoring and Releasing Your Team

Some of the keys to building a powerful team is building relationships with them, mentoring them, and releasing them to ministry. Find out from active children’s leaders who are already practicing this. Mentoring and Releasing Your Team will be a featured topic in the 10-Spot. Alton Garrison will be leading this session.

  4. Conflict Management

Conflict can be like going to the dentist—it can be unpleasant, but it is necessary to maintain good health. Conflict Management will be one of the 10 topics in 10-Spot. Here you'll learn from a seasoned veteran of children's ministry on how to deal with conflict in a constructive way that produces positive results.

  5. Milestones and Hurdles of A Leader

Longevity in children’s ministry is a good thing! Each year, working in a church contains its own set of milestones. Some are good; some not-so-good. Find out from veteran children’s pastors what these milestones are and how to identify them, and learn how to overcome challenges and roadblocks. This topic is featured in the Interact Session and is designed as a roundtable discussion with a small group of leaders. Bring your questions and challenges and tackle them together.

  6. Prioritizing Your Ministry

There never seems to be enough time to fit everything in. Time management is an important tool that every leader should practice. And mastering it helps a leader become more effective and enjoy greater results. Part of Interact Session, this topic will be explored in a large-group setting with leaders who will help pinpoint the most important time management principles.

  7. Risk Management and General Questions

Bring your concerns and questions about risk management in children’s ministry. A specially assembled panel of children’s leaders will be on hand to provide important information, answer questions and address concerns. This session will be a mix of small-group, roundtable discussions as well as educated input from the panel. Risk management and General Questions are part of the Interact Session.

  8. How to Build a Family Ministry

It's important to build a family ministry that impacts children and parents. How do you build an effective family ministry? What works in the traditional structure? How do you encourage your senior pastor to embrace the idea of breaking ground in developing family ministry? Find out if family ministry is a passing fad or here to stay. All of these questions and more will be discussed during the roundtable The Buzz. Find out what other leaders are doing to build an effective family ministry in their local churches.

  9. Vision Casting

Determine where your ministry is heading and how to get people to follow you. Learn how to articulate your vision in a way that people understand. These important questions and more will be answered and discussed. Part of The Buzz.

  10. Communicating with Clarity

Children’s pastors can be wonderful communicators when it comes to kids, but communicating with adults can be a challenge. Learn how to implement effective strategies and operate strong communication tools in this session. Communicating With Clarity will be covered in The 10-Spot general session and will be led by Alton Garrison.
